Principal’s Message 10/29
Dear Collins Community,
We hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the rain will stay away for our Halloween festivities on Wednesday afternoon.
Veteran’s Day Tribute
We would like to have all photos of your veteran sent in to Mrs. Blazina by the end of the day Wednesday, October 31st. Photos can include parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. One photo per veteran please. As in previous years, the photos will be displayed in the hallway for all the students to see. Students will also be asked to participate in a tribute video introducing their veteran. Email photos to Zilda Blazina at email@example.com if you would like to honor a veteran.
We are so excited to see all the creative costumes and Halloween excitement on Wednesday afternoon! Any student that is planning to go home during the lunch hour will need a signed permission slip. If students are getting dressed here at school they should bring their costume with them in the morning and plan to change during lunch. We will have plenty of adults on hand to help students with their costumes.
Kindergarten students that are going home during lunch will be released by an adult through Doors 5 & 6.
Kindergarten students from room 114 will exit through Door 5.
Kindergarten students from rooms 101, 102 and 115 will exit Door 6.
Any siblings of kindergarten students may also go out Doors 5 and 6 to meet their parent/guardian.
All other students will be released through Door 1. All students will re-enter the building through Door 1 upon their return after lunch. Students need to be back in their classrooms by 12:15. Please see below for timeline for the afternoon:
11:15-12:15 Lunch for all students
12:30-1:00 All school Halloween parade (Parade will be outside weather permitting)
1:00-2:10 Classroom Parties.
We ask that you be especially thoughtful in creating costumes which will be worn at Collins. The District 54 School Board has a policy which prohibits weapons or look-alike weapons at school. In choosing an appropriate costume for your child to wear at school, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- No fake blood, gore, scary costumes or costumes depicting violence
- No weapons or “look-alikes” of any kind (squirt guns, chains, whips, plastic swords, etc.)
- Ensure that costumes are appropriate and inoffensive to all ages at our school
- Keep make-up to a minimum (there is only a short time given to students to change into costume)
- No one may wear make-up or costumes to school in the morning
- Be certain that your child can see through any mask or head covering
