Principal’s Message 11/20

Dear Collins Community,

On behalf of the entire Collins staff, we would like to share how grateful we are to work with such an amazing community.  Thank you for all that you do to support our efforts in ensuring student happiness and success. We wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!  We hope that you have been enjoying the conversations surrounding your November family gratitude calendar.  More information will come out next week regarding turning them in at the conclusion of this month.

If you do not already follow us on Twitter or Facebook, check us out! You can look on our school website for our links. We have several staff members sharing through these social media outlets as well.

No School – November 21st – November 23rd
There is no school tomorrow, Wednesday, November 21st through Friday, November 23rd, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Report Cards Online Nov. 21
As a reminder, parents/guardians are able to view report cards online for this trimester today,  Nov. 21 on the District 54 Infinite Campus Parent/Student Portal. The portal is a website and app where parents and guardians can view their children’s grades, assignments, immunizations, test scores, demographic information and report cards. If you have not previously logged on to the portal, contact our front office for instructions on how to obtain a secure access.

MAP Testing
The next round of MAP testing begins Monday, November 26, 2018.  We are excited to see the growth that our students have made since the fall. Each student will take both a reading and math assessment.  Please see the attached schedule for specific dates.  It is always helpful to ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep, is here on time and eats a healthy breakfast.

5Essentials Survey
District 54 will again be participating in the 5Essentials Survey.  We value this information as a tool to help us continue to improve. We will only receive the results from the parent survey if at least 20 percent of our parents take the survey. The 5Essentials survey now includes fourth- through eighth-grade students.  It is our plan to complete the survey at school prior to winter break. If you do not want your child to participate, please contact me. The parent survey will be available online through Feb. 15 2019, at
