Principal’s Message 11/30

Dear Collins Community,

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break with your families.  Although the snow shortened our week, we had a fun filled, learning packed four days in school. Our MAP testing is underway and our students are working hard to show us what they know.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our Annual Holiday Pancake Breakfast, Holiday Sing and Vendor fair tomorrow.  See below for more details on this event and much more!

Gratitude Calendars
The gratitude calendars that were sent home with students in the beginning of November can be turned in on December 3rd.  Students who completed their calendar will turn these into their classroom teachers and then be given a pennant to decorate. All the directions of what they have to do with their pennant will be on the sheet.  We can’t wait to see how many students’ pennants will be added to our Collins Happiness wall. We hope that you enjoyed doing this as a family and that the students were able to scan the world for appreciation and gratitudes all around them.

5Essentials Survey
District 54 will again be participating in the 5Essentials Survey.  We value this information as a tool to help us continue to improve. We will only receive the results from the parent survey if at least 20 percent of our parents take the survey. The 5Essentials survey now includes fourth- through eighth-grade students.  It is our plan to complete the survey at school prior to winter break. If you do not want your child to participate, please contact me. The parent survey will be available online through Feb. 15 2019, at https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois.
