Principal’s Message 12/10

Dear Collins Community,

The busy holiday season has begun!  This week we will wrap up our winter MAP testing.  We are exceptionally proud of our students for putting forth their very best effort.   A week ago Saturday we had our Annual Holiday Pancake Breakfast, Sing and vendor fair.  We had such a wonderful turnout!  Students, parents, grandparents and staff truly enjoyed this festive day.  Thank you to our fabulous PTA for hosting this amazing event. Specifically, Mr. Nelson and the countless number of volunteers who helped to make our breakfast so successful. We would like to also thank Mrs. Carvell, Mrs. Ross, and Mrs. Stegall for organizing and preparing our students to entertain us throughout the morning with their voices and musical instruments.

Fit for Kids and Fitness Brain Power – Cancelled Thursday, December 13th
Due to the use of the gym for our holiday shop, both Fitness Brain Power and Fit for Kids will be cancelled this week Thursday, December 13th.

Holiday Shop
The student Holiday Shop will be held during the school day this week on Thursday, December 13th and Friday, December 14th.  Students will visit the shop during the school day.  Please see the schedule below.

The items range in price from $.50 to $11.00 with most items at the $5.00 price point. A budget envelope to fill out and send in money for the shop was sent home with each student.  If you did not receive one, please contact your child’s classroom teacher. PTA parent helpers will be present to assist the students with their shopping needs.   Please email mregilio@nullhotmail.com  if you would like to volunteer to help with the Holiday Shop or have any questions.

5Essentials Survey
District 54 will again be participating in the 5Essentials Survey.  We value this information as a tool to help us continue to improve. We will only receive the results from the parent survey if at least 20 percent of our parents take the survey. The 5Essentials survey now includes fourth- through eighth-grade students.  It is our plan to complete the survey at school prior to winter break. If you do not want your child to participate, please contact me. The parent survey will be available online through Feb. 15 2019, at https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois.
