Principal’s Message 1/25

Dear Collins Community,

We hope everyone had a wonderful week.

Please remember that Wednesday, January 30th is a half day for our students.  Dismissal is at 11:40 and the students will not be eating lunch at school.

Collins Engineering Fair
Calling all engineers!  Are you someone who has a creative imagination?  If so, we need you on our team! All students in all grades are encouraged to join in on the fun!  We are looking for students who are excited about designing something new to solve a problem and willing to share their ideas with others.  We hope you’ll think about joining us. Be sure to head to our NEW website to sign up and register for the 2019 Michael Collins Engineering Fair by Wednesday January 30th.

5Essentials Survey
District 54 will again be participating in the 5Essentials Survey.  We value this information as a tool to help us continue to improve. We will only receive the results from the parent survey if at least 20 percent of our parents take the survey. The 5Essentials survey now includes fourth- through eighth-grade students.  It is our plan to complete the survey at school prior to winter break. If you do not want your child to participate, please contact me. The parent survey will be available online through Feb. 15 2019, at

Kindergarten Registration
Registration for incoming Kindergarten students will be held on Wednesday, February 6 for the 2019-20 school year. Registration for students will be from 9:00-11:00AM and 5:00-7:00PM at Collins. If you have neighbors with a child who will be five years old before September 1, please let them know about Kindergarten Registration. Visit for more information.

District 54 Cold Weather Response Plan
In order to help parents better prepare for the severe cold weather and snow we often get during winters in our community, I wanted to share with you the District 54 Severe Cold Weather Response Plan. Though District 54 makes every effort to keep our schools open and operational, circumstances beyond our control oftentimes dictate school closings.

Schaumburg Parent University – February classes
