Week of 12/17/18

It’s the last week of school before Winter Break and we have a lot going on, including the Holiday Sing, a visit from our friends at Misericordia, and a midpoint literacy assessment. Read on below to learn more about our week and what’s going on in Room 208.

We continue Benchmark Literacy Unit 5 this week. This unit focuses on nonfiction informational text and will practice the skills of making inferences, citing text evidence, identifying central idea, summarizing, and determining author’s point of view. We will take a midpoint assessment this Wednesday to gauge student progress.

We wrap up our persuasive writing pieces this week by revising and editing. We will then celebrate by sharing some of our awards nominations in class to see if we can persuade our audience.

Social Studies:

We finish Unit 3 on Ancient India this week. We have learned all about the Gupta Empire and will write a short piece describing the achievements that made it a Golden Age for India.

The class continues their FUSE unit with Mrs. McCormack this week. They are learning about the engineering design process and engaging in hands-on projects throughout the unit.

We continue to think about recognizing the feelings and perspectives of others, as well as understanding how our own actions affect others.
