It is of the utmost importance that we provide a safe and efficient process for both arrival and dismissal.  We appreciate your cooperation and we thank you for helping out by doing your part in keeping our students safe on their way to and from school.  Please speak to your child(ren) prior to the start of the school day about how they are getting home each day. Consider choosing a meeting spot away from the school doors for you and your child(ren) to assist in avoiding any confusion at the end of the day.  Our sidewalks and exits get extremely congested if everyone attempts to meet near the building.

Our School Parking Lot Arrival/Dismissal

  • Our lot is closed to all moving traffic except buses from the time our first yellow  school bus arrives, approximately 8:25-8:40 and 2:55-3:10. This time frame is when the majority of our students are arriving to and departing from school and our buses are in the lot.

  • After school, we would like it to be easy for all students to find their family and/or their bus. Our exits are congested with students exiting the building. Parents must remain outside. Additionally, we would like families to select a meeting location for your family to unite that is either to the north of the building on the blacktop or to the south of the building on the far side of the crosswalk. This will leave the front walk clear for students and staff.

  • Families are asked to park in an area other than the Collins lot for arrival and dismissal.

Driving Your Child to School

  • Students can be dropped off and follow the sidewalk to our front doors. They should arrive at our front doors no earlier than 8:20, as there is no supervision earlier than that. Being on time is important. Please be sure your child has time to walk the short, supervised distance to school and to unpack his/her belongings. Students should be in their seats ready to start their day of learning at 8:40.

  • We ask that you use the sidewalks and crosswalks when you walk children to or from the front door. People should never cross between the buses. Our drivers are not able to see pedestrians between buses. This is incredibly unsafe and not the example we want to set for children.

Parking Lot Drop-Off Procedure

  • The front loop of the parking lot will be open for car traffic/parent drop off from 8:20-8:25 (or until the first bus arrives) each morning. At 8:25, (or after the first bus arrives) barricades will go up at the entrance closing the lot to car traffic.

  • All traffic will use the lane closest to the school to drop off students.  All other parking lot lanes will be closed from 8:20-8:40 to eliminate cars pulling in and out of parking spots during this time.  Should parents park in the parking spot prior to 8:20, we ask that they remain parked there until 8:40 after all buses have unloaded and departed.

  • Doors (1, 2, 3 and 8) will be open for students to stand in the foyer should there be inclement weather from 8:20-8:25, otherwise at the 8:25 bell, students will enter the building and make their way to their grade level hallway and classrooms.

  • We ask that all traffic pull as far up to the end of the front loop to drop off students. Staff members will be posted along the front lane to assist with drop off and keep traffic moving. Please be mindful of their requests to pull up as far as possible before allowing students out of your vehicle.  By pulling forward, we will decrease the back-up on Summit.

  • Parents should stay in the car and the student(s) must exit through the passenger side of the car only with all of their belongings. Please note, in order to successfully keep the traffic moving, students should be ready to hop out quickly.

  • Students will walk on the sidewalk and will be able to enter the building at the closest entrance (i.e. Door 1 or Door 2).

  • All traffic exiting the parking lot during morning drop off must follow the posted signage and make a right turn only onto Summit between 8:20 and 8:40.

  • All vehicular traffic in the drop off lane needs to remain in a single file line. Cars should not attempt to go around any stopped daycare buses and/or cars.

Please be aware, both sides of Summit, from just before the crossing guard at Langley to the corner of Greenhill there are “No Stopping, No Standing” signs posted. The Schaumburg Police Department has ticketed families who pulled over to drop a student off.  Tickets have been issued for parking too close to a crosswalk. You must be 20 feet away from a crosswalk and 30 feet from an intersection.

Please consider allowing a few extra minutes to your drop off/pick up routine to alleviate any rushing. Respecting the rules and the people who are enforcing them will create the safe environment we all desire. Your support will make all the difference.

Our entire support staff will be out the first week to help guide the children to their classrooms. Please let your children know that they can stop and ask an adult if they need any help.
