At Collins, we are committed to helping students grow as responsible individuals who demonstrate self-discipline and make positive choices. We believe every child can learn and grow through guidance, consistency, and support. To ensure that our school remains a safe, respectful, and productive environment for all, we use a consistent school-wide approach for behavior expectations and consequences.
Behavior that is disruptive to the education process and infringes upon the rights of others will not be tolerated. A consistent structure for progressive consequences is utilized across all locations in the school throughout the day including during arrival/dismissal, specials, acceleration periods, lunch, and recess.
First infraction: Warning from staff member
Second infraction: Classroom-issued consequence and potential phone call home
Third infraction: Second level classroom-issued consequence and required parent phone call
Fourth infraction: All of the above and referral to the office
Severe Clause: Dangerous or extreme off-task behaviors immediately referred to the office
As stated above, students displaying “Severe Clause” behavior will receive an immediate referral to the office and parents/guardians will be notified by the school administrator. Examples of “Severe Clause” behaviors would include: fighting; insubordination; serious verbal abuse or use of profanity or obscenity; acts that jeopardize the health, safety, and welfare of another; repeated and willful behavior that constitutes disregard for the rules and regulations of the school; and chronic behaviors involving classroom disruptions or inappropriate language.
Our goal is to teach students positive behaviors, so that all students can work in a school environment that is safe, fun and conducive to learning. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. We value our partnership and your support.
