Run to Read - Sept. 20 Join the District 54 Education Foundation and School District 54 at the 22nd annual Run to Read on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Dirksen School. This event will include a 5K run/walk, a 1-mile walk and children’s races. All proceeds will support financially struggling District 54 families. Register online through Sept. 18 at noon, or in person the morning of the race. We hope to see you there. Free Vaccine Clinic – Sept. 16 School District 54 is partnering with the Illinois Department of Public Health to offer a free vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the District 54 Professional Learning Center, 522 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg (enter through door C1). Licensed health care professionals will provide all required and recommended vaccines. No insurance or ID is required, but parents/guardians must be present and consent for all children under 18 years old. Registration is encouraged, and families can register by clicking on this link. However, walk-ins are also welcome. Multicultural Parent Advisory Council District 54's Multicultural Parent Advisory Council will present a session for parents on The Key to Success for English Learners in District 54 from 5-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Join us at the District 54 Professional Learning Center (522 E. Schaumburg Rd. - Door C1). We will review how English Learners are identified in District 54 and discuss the information that ACCESS scores provide regarding your student's learning. We will also share tips for creating a partnership with your students’ teachers, review Evidence-Based Funding in District 54, and explain how support is provided for multilingual learners. Interpreters will be available. To sign up, please complete the registration form by Monday, Sept. 14. If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Language and Culture at (847) 357-5150. Adult ESL Classes District 54 is offering classes to learn how to speak English. These classes are for parents who have children attending a District 54 school who are interested in learning Basic English conversation skills as well as beginning reading and writing skills in English. Adult ESL will take place at Campanelli Elementary School, Muir Elementary School, and Nerge Elementary School from 5-7 p.m. on Thursdays from October 1 through November 12. No Chromebook and iPad Stickers Please ensure your children are not placing stickers on their Chromebooks and iPad cases. This is a change in practice in District 54, as our technology department spends countless hours each summer removing these stickers from thousands of devices.
