Good afternoon Collins Community,

We had another busy and fun week!  The fun began on Monday with Our School Our Author day.  As you know, we had author and illustrator Supriya Kelkar visit Collins.  All students were able to attend an interactive assembly where they were able to either illustrate following her lead or given an opportunity to practice their descriptive writing skills.  It was so fun to watch them interact with her.

Tuesday evening was our district STEAM showcase.  Several of our students had artwork on display and our students from the Rube Goldberg club had their 1st place winning chain reaction project up and running for all to enjoy.  Thank you Mrs. Tocmo, Mrs. Kowalski, Mrs. Krueger and Ms. Martin for the extra time and effort you gave in order for our students to be able to participate in this outstanding event.

Third and fourth graders brought their A game to our Basketball Shootout last night.  Students and their parents, siblings and friends had a minute and 30 seconds on the clock to sink as many shots as possible.  There were some impressive high scores, but more importantly lots of smiles and cheering. Thank you Mr. Cahoj, Mr. Berg, Ms. Molidor and the many staff volunteers that made this evening possible.

Our students have been working hard to show what they know during our first week of MAP Testing. We are so proud of them and look forward to seeing their continued efforts next week.

Staff Appreciation Week begins Monday, May 6, and we can’t wait to show them how lucky we are to have them.  They are committed to the success of all our students and consistently go above and beyond in their instruction and support. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to work alongside such amazing educators. If you have the chance to send a note of thanks to one of our staff members, we know it would be greatly appreciated.  We are so grateful for all they do!

Sincerely,

Nell Haack   and     Ashton Nisbet
