Good afternoon Collins Community,
This week has been one filled with hard work, learning and growing. Our students continue to show us what it means to believe in themselves, to feel a strong sense of belonging and to take the steps they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom. Whether it is working in small groups, tackling a new math concept, or showing kindness to a classmate, our students are shining stars!
Wednesday was the perfect day for fundraising, fun and fitness. We would like to thank Mr. Cahoj, Mr. Berg and Dirksen’s PE teacher, Mr. Blakely, for organizing the Annual Collins/Dirksen Trot for a Cause. The weather was absolutely perfect for our families to come together and cheer on our students as they participated in grade level races for fun with a cause. Together, with the Dirksen community, we raised over $400.00 for the District 54 Food Pantry. Thank you to all who participated and volunteered.
Several of our before and after school clubs began meeting this week as well. It’s been so great seeing our students getting involved in, making new connections and taking advantage or the opportunities to explore their interests.
We hope that you enjoy the warm weekend ahead.
Sincerely,
Nell Haack and Stefanie Vogt
